Editor and publisher, Lou Burnett moderated the forum that was held in the History Center of the Bossier Parish Library on Beckett Street. About a hundred persons were in the audience made up of voters, candidate supporters, campaign organizers, and local officials.

The question and answer session on Tuesday night, July 22nd, lasted a little more than an hour, with each Republican candidate having an opportunity to also make an opening and closing statement.

Gorman, Fleming and Thomson are all seeking the 4th Congressional District seat being vacated by retiring Congressman Jim McCrery.  The questions asked were all submitted by members of the Bossier Republican Women organization.

The questions ranged from “What would you do to get the U.S. through the energy crisis?” and “Do you support a Fair Tax Plan?” to specifically “How would you secure the borders against illegal immigration?” and “How would make sure that Social Security is preserved for U.S. citizens who have contributed to it?”

The candidates also fielded questions about the recent mortgage crisis and bailing out the lenders, as well as releasing information about their campaign financing.

It was a lively hour, and it seemed everyone went away feeling they knew a little bit more about: The Doctor, The Lawyer, and The Businessman.
