BREAKING 2pm 7-30-08 BattleWings Host Renegades Aug 2nd: Winner Advances To af2 Divisional

BOSSIER CITY, LA (By: Tom Pace, Talk of the Town) BREAKING: af2 PLAYOFFS: 2pm 7-30-08  BattleWings’ head coach John Norris and his team want to win this one for their fans. Click here to listen as Coach Norris talks with Tom Pace from "The Talk of the Town." 

This is THE REALLY, REALLY, BIG Game
for the Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings, as they host their first-ever playoff game in team history at the CenturyTel Center.  The 'Wings will lock horns with the Lubbock Renegades at 7pm, Saturday, August 2nd. Both teams sport 9-7 records.


The reigning Southwest Division af2 champs, the Battlewings advanced to the playoffs for their second consecutive year, with a 65-54 win over division rivals, the Austin Wranglers last Saturday night. Now, it’s up to the ‘Wings to be true to the fans.

 

The winner of this weekend’s game will advance to the Divisional Round, and face the winner of the Tulsa-Amarillo game. If Amarillo defeats Tulsa, the BattleWings will host the Divisional Game.

 

THE SERIES: This will be the first meeting ever between the Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings and the Lubbock Renegades. The Renegades, in their second year in af2, are making their first playoff appearance in team history while the BattleWings advance to the playoffs for a second consecutive year.

 

Now, Here are the “If’s”:

 

“If Bossier-Shreveport defeats Lubbock, it would …“

·  Give Bossier-Shreveport a 3-1 playoff record in team history.

·  Give Bossier-Shreveport a 4-5 home record in 2008

·  Give Jon Norris a 3-1 playoff record as head coach of the BattleWings

·  Give Bossier-Shreveport its 10th win of the 2008 season

·  Match the Wings against the winner of the Tulsa Talons-Amarillo Dusters game
