GUSTAV SHELTERS UPDATE 11pm 8-29-08 Shreveport Police Annouce Evacuee Shelter Locations
Security at the Hirsch will be a joint operation between SPD, Caddo SO, and LSP.
* Those evacuees being bussed who have pets will be taken to the Hirsch which will be open Saturday at 7 AM.
* LSUS (Youree Drive) - Staffed at 6:00 PM Friday
Security provided by LSU-S (General population (self evacuees, those evacuees arriving in personal autos) will be sheltered until EOC determines acceptable capacity has been reached.
Self-evacuees with pets should first be checked in to LSU-S then will be directed to an animal receiving facility. Pet owners are encouraged to check local veterinarian and boarding facilities in addition to local are animal shelters.
* Southern University
Security provided by Southern University Police. This location will be only opened at the direction of the Emergency Operations Center after determined LSU-S has reached acceptable capacity
* SPD has dedicated personnel on each shift to respond to each shelter if requested. On duty personnel will be responsible for transporting any persons arrested from the shelters.
