Yeah now if I could just settle on the right avatar, then I might not be so schizo. Avatars are too much like fake hannah tattoos... I have always liked your avatar. Al is so "natural" and "down to earth" looking. Something I'm working my way towards slowly......

Your levity is always appreciated

Hey Al ! I would like to thank you for working behind the lines in Vietnam. I know it was and still is a hell hole. The spelling issue well my point was to stick to the point and try to over look my spelling issue. We all have them at times. You dont have to defend yourself but you did. I would defend myself when I can and if I needed to. From your notes sounds like you have many friends on this fourm so I should walk softly :-} Late Night your colors are showing bright. Are you guys related ? Small world. Many different hats and there are many different Avatars could there be more than one per person ???

HA.. wouldn't worry about walkin' too softly Isaac. Yes I have known Al for many many years, there is no doubt. But believe you me, there are many times we don't agree on something.. and we'll argue our points until the cows come home, or until the whiskey runs dry, which ever comes first.

:)

Isaac-Saxxon 11-16-2006 12:15 PM

I will drink to that !

That's not a puppy. It's a mythical creature called a Pug. One of the most offensive creatures in chinese culture.

Yeah the pug is getting old already... I don't know what my problem is. I got no flay-va....

Al Swearengen 11-16-2006 07:11 PM

Isaac, you're right, I should not have made an issue of your spelling and for that I apologize...I was feeling a bit defensive and lashed out. Truth is I could'nt care less about spelling errors, and your points are well taken, even if I happen to disagree with some of them. As LateNight said, we've known each other for many years, and I know some of the others only to say hello to, but there is no reason why anyone should feel they can not speak their mind on this forum...there wont be any dog-piling. I'd also like to clear up something it seems you've misunderstood about my previous comments...I was never involved in the Vietnam war, as I was born in 67'. I was simply relating what I had been told of the battlefield life expectancy of the soldiers who did the same job I was trained to do, in that particular conflict. Further, I've never been in combat and have not the foggiest notion of what I would do were I to find myself in it. Just wanted to make that crystal.

Jerry Jones is an idiot and the people of Shreveport did a great thing by electing Glover

Jones is an idiot.

Jones is not mayor so his competience is none of my business since I don't pay his salary with my taxes. Glover now has his turn in the limelight. Glover is where the focus will be for years to come. It is probably too early ask what has he done so far, but I would like to know what his plan for Shreveport is? I like a politician who says "I'm going to do this, this and this" and then actually does it! Even if it is "I'm going to raise taxes, cut services, and build a hotel", as long as he or she does it, then at least they are honest and effective. I truly hope Glover is effective at making Shreveport a better place to live which is what it takes to attract new business and new and better jobs. (which makes it an even better place to live, and so on) Building a city is like building a snowball that is in competition with other snowballs.

OK, maybe that wasn't the best analogy. On the otherhand, I sometimes hear the term "snowballing" when describing a "vicious cycle" mechanism. That is to say that good jobs beget more good jobs, and so on.

LateNight 12-19-2006 08:18 AM

Yea yea, it's like making a snowball. The trick is to make many of them, then get them wet, and then let them freeze over night, then you're not just throwing 'snow balls' but instead throwing big round chunks of frozen ice, guaranteed to do some damage.. LOL HAHAHAHAHAHA.
