Are there any "Deadliest Catch" fans out there?

Tonight is "Deadliest Catch" night on the Discovery channel. It's time to drop a few pots! :D

rhertz 04-24-2007 10:07 PM

I say..... Are there any deadlist catch fans out there?

(Yes Santabot, you are not the only one on this board who knows how to troll.....)

Crab Fishing

Yes, that and Dirtiest Jobs are the best shows on.

"Deadliest Catch"

Great Show - I record the whole season and watch when I can. These people are the hardest working people I have ever seen but they all seem to be well compensated.
It is not something I would do but I sure enjoy watching the series.

Yeah well my question was not about politics or religion or flaming a fellow member, so I didn't expect this thread to break any records..

But I do loves me some Deadliest Catch, the best show on TV! :D Last night a fisherman fell into the sea without a dry suit. He was recued in a few short minutes by another boat "Time Bandit" who was watching the whole thing at a close distance. That fisherman is lucky the Time Bandit was there on the ball, and lucky to be alive.

Crab Fishing

I think Blake P., the new captain is a cocky little SOB. I hope somebody puts a pipe around one of his lines. Let hime try to get that off. They'll laugh about it later.

I agree 100%. In fact, the pipe trick was exactly what I was thinking Phil should have pulled on Blake to see if he could handle it. Anyone can break a weld with a torch and a sledge hammer, but how about something you really have to think to figure out.

BTW, I miss Eric and the Rollo. He was much cooler than this new Captain (Greg?) on the Farwest Leader who seems like a smartguy to me.

Now I wonder why you would enjoy a show about dirty jobs? Hmmm.....

Dirty Jobs

What makes you think I have a dirty job? Actually we are thinking about trying to get Mike Rowe to come check out our "dirty Job".

BTW, Mike Rowe, star of Dirtiest Jobs is also the narrator (voice) on Deadliest Catch. I like Mike.

It's funny, because right now is the first time I've ever viewed this post, and I've seen it multiple times without even clicking.. yet you point me out and make claims that have no foundation. When do I troll these forums? If you'd like me to, I can get a lot more un-serious about it here, and really piss some people off :)

EDIT: and on-topic, I haven't seen the show yet, been listening to more music than watching tv lately.

rhertz 05-01-2007 06:32 PM

It's Deadliest Catch Night! Whooo Hoooo Time to pull some pots! :D :D

purpahurl 05-01-2007 07:07 PM

Phil

I love that Phil had to get his blood pressure checked after trying to get new prop. I think he's my favorite, but Sig is right there with him.

rhertz 05-01-2007 08:09 PM

I like em all! Man, falling in the Bering Sea. Can you imagine? If I was out there, I'd want Jonathan covering my back!

TheNarrator 05-01-2007 09:30 PM

I've heard a lot about this show, but have never seen it. I haven't watched anything on the Discovery Channel in quite awhile, I'm more of a National Geographic Channel fan. :)

purpahurl 05-01-2007 09:37 PM

Uh Oh

Blake gets what he gives. Looks like his pots were dry after listening to other skippers. Time for Blake to make his own way and find crabs on his own. I don't want him to fail, but I still think he's a cocky SOB.

Yeah well looks like he found some crab again on his own. I think the Maverick is one lucky boat over the years. Which probably adds to Blake's cockyness. Old Capt Rick's good luck seems to rub off on him. I hope it holds out for his crews sake. One crewman cut his hand and had me wondering there for a moment. Hiram wouldn't have done that! (Even drunk)

purpahurl 05-01-2007 10:32 PM

Hiram

I forgot about him. That was one ornery old bastard. Wonder where he is?

Apparently Blake didn't hire him as part of his new crew this year. Hiram was pretty funny when he wasn't pissed off.

Me thinks Sig is going to win "the bet" they made in the first episode. You know, the boat with the fewest pots to reach 100k lbs wins. Well Sig is using oversized pots this year. That almost seems like cheating! But I'm sure he would argue that point. :D

rhertz 05-08-2007 07:38 PM

It's Deadliest Catch night!! Whooo Hoooo! Almost time to haul some crab pots!!!!

purpahurl 05-08-2007 08:33 PM

Hey, there is a deck hand on the Time Bandit that I swear was a captain last year. Does anyone recognize hime? Last year he set his pots right next to the ice sheet. He doesn't look like a crab fisherman.

rhertz 05-15-2007 06:26 PM

Dang, the rain is pouring, my directv is out, and the Deadliest Catch is coming up!! What to do!! I should keep a redundant connection during crab viewing season!!!

Has anyone else noticed the new HD dish goes out and stays out longer than the older dishes?

No sympathy for a old land lubber... That's ok, I understand! The fact that I only have 3/4th's of last nights episode recorded is tough luck. I dunno, looks like one guy was being airlifted for throwing up blood. That can't be good. I wonder what happened.. Did a crab pot fall on the guy or something?

rhertz 05-22-2007 11:15 AM

It's O-peas baby!!!! Tonight at 8 on DSC!!!

rhertz 05-29-2007 07:45 PM

15 minutes until Deadliest Catch! (ch 278 on directv) Supposed to be 70 knot winds tonight. I Better bundle up!!! ;)

Texasbelle 05-29-2007 08:50 PM

Out of all the stuff on to watch.....you watch that Rhertz???????????

I looked at it a couple of times to see if it was even remotely interesting....NOT. How about some Dancing with the Stars? or The Batchelor? or CSI: Miami? or Sex and the City? or Grey's Anatomy? or a good chick flick. Have you tried watching anything like that?:p

I'm so lucky tonight. There is a new show called "After the Catch" that is another hour after Deadliest Catch so that makes 2 hours total of crab ecstasy! I'll have to get back to you on CSI and Grey's Anatomy...

BrainSmashR 05-30-2007 06:36 AM

crab ecstasy....lol

So how was After the Catch? I was torn last night between fishing and wrestling....and well what can I say. The McMahon's have a firm grip on my psyche.

Rhertz after seeing what you spend your evening watching and what turns you on I have to wonder, how's Ms. Rhertz responding to this? You know what I mean?????????????????????:D :D :D :D :D :D

Isaac-Saxxon 05-30-2007 06:57 AM

I have seen this show a few times. Not bad just a few times  I guess I do not see myself wanting to watch something so repetitive ? I am glad you guys enjoy it

After the Catch was ok. I didn't like how they played some old clips from Deadliest Catch. I would rather just hear the captains tell their stories at the bar. There was this one fisherman who told a story how they made it ashore only to be faced with an angry Grizzly bear! Now that was a new twist to a crab story.

It's just one night a week. She gets the other 6 nights to watch whatever she wants. In todays society, that's about fair, right? :D

Yeah, I remember that story from season 1. Their boat sank, two guys make it to shore only to find a Grizzly "sniffing" around the next morning....

I think I started watching with season 2 (missed the first season). Heh, maybe I ought to buy the DVD set. Or maybe I'll get it for fathers day!

rhertz 06-05-2007 08:31 PM

500's on set-back pots with only 24 hours of soak!...... It's a good day on the Bering Sea! :D

rhertz 06-12-2007 08:50 PM
