Ice Road Truckers

2 Attachment(s)
Those crab boys just think they have it bad. These Ice Road Truckers that drive over frozen lakes and never know when they will find a crack in the ice.
I see where they are going to make a TV series out of this too.

This show could not hold a match to what crab fishermen go though. No competition whatsoever.

Imagine an ice trucker with a crew of 6. The other 5 guys are outside while you are driving the "steel horse". Your crew then uses a crane to pull cars that drive by up into the air, shake them until all the people come out, then set the empty car back on the road, all while going 60mph. Then you gotta keep your "catch" alive until offloading.

Ice Trucking can be summarized in one sentence!

WHATEVER YOU DO, JUST DON'T STOP....KEEP GOING!! :D

Crab fishing/Crawfishing  These truckers are all alone dealing with real life situations. If you do stop it might be the last time.

What, the Coast Guard won't give em a ride in their choppers?? LOL, probably because they won't need one until next spring's thawout. :D

Texasbelle 07-02-2007 07:21 PM

Rhertz, I think you are a little too obsessed with the crabbers.:D Life does get more exciting than that, I promise!

Ms Belle, operating a crab boat is like running any small business.......in a jail cell, mounted to a roller coaster, during an ice storm, with plenty of government regulation! What else could be more scary? What else could be more inspiring to the soul of a businessman?

It's cold out there, but there is plenty to eat. ($5k grocery bills)

There is no art on the walls, the Bering Sea is a living canvas. The open ocean calls to me like a Sea Elf.

There are no women on board with their opinions or high heels, just lots of crabs and maybe a handful of ex-convicts, who aren't so bad after you get to know em. (ducking)

It's like the iChing for business captains, what else can I say?

May your pots be full, and your season short! If that's not enough, please allow me to take you and Mr Belle to Joe's crab shack for opillio, tanner, or baradi crab (no telling which type of snow crab they sell - probably Russian, LOL) But its all good!

Texasbelle 07-02-2007 09:35 PM

Ok, I hear what you are saying but I still don't get it. It's just a crab boat!!! I will take you up on dinner one night though.

After din-din, you can tell me if it is worth the potential loss of human life or not. :D 1 out of every 100 red crab fishermen don't make it (statistically). But that is on the American side. If you go to Walmart and buy some snow crab, it is likely russian snow crab. I wonder how many of our commrades die each year pulling pots? Who knows?.. On second thought, maybe we should mailorder some genuine crab from Alaska and eat at my house. :D

We could even invite Isaac if RUSSIAN crab is off the menu1 ;)

Texasbelle 07-02-2007 11:17 PM

Rhertz, I need to burst your bubble a bit. I only eat crab in "crabcakes". Not much of a seafood kind of girl, but dinner would still be good one day!

It is impressive to see that you know your crab facts so well. Obviously you are doing something educational with your time. Have you ever watched Big Brother? It starts this Thursday. You need to watch, it's funny.

Guess you men never get poor circulation?? I can think of an area that doesn't stick out anymore that could cause you much more problems than cold hands and feet. Time for some ED therapy??:rotflol: :rotflol:

Pokie, are you referring to this for the men? Yes, they are at that age where many are beginning to require it!!! :rotflol:  :rotflol:

Ice Road Truckers

Ice Road Truckers. . . .
If I lived in northern Alaska, I would rely on them. But then again, why would I live in northern Alaska.
These guys are yet another example of the "American Spirit." We have always stepped up to the plate, ponied up, bellied up to the bar. . . . oh sorry, I got a little carried away.
The point, I think, was that wild west/north would never have been tamed without such brave men and women. Or are they just crazy?

Welcome to the board Huldah   I agree this country was tamed by very brave men and women that forged ahead to get it done. I think you will enjoy all the nice people here at SBLive and I hope to see you post more in the future. I think the other avatars will be happy to see a new member too. ;)

Now if they could just make a blue pill for females that really works it would be great. I think the blue pill is for men over 60 ;)

Snowman is really a crab fisherman who fell off the boat and survived. :D

Hey I played with those dudes!

The "Ice Road Truckers" sounds like a country music group. Big Mo plays bass. Cledus Snow "Snowman" plays guitar, Chris "rubberduck" Kristofferson on vocals, and Large Marge on drums!

Shrevenator you may have played with some dudes  but you do not have the snow balls to get in one of those big rigs and cross a frozen lake. Maybe you should hook up with rhertz and go crab fishing that would be a cake walk.

Huldah

Huldah appears in the Hebrew Bible only in nine verses, II Kings 22:13-20, II Chronicles 34:22-28. This short narrative is sufficient to make clear that Huldah was regarded as a prophetess accustomed to speaking the word of God directly to high priests and royal officials, to whom high officials came in supplication, who told kings and nations of their fates, who had the authority to determine what was and was not the genuine Law, and who spoke in a manner of stern command when acting as a prophetess. Nonetheless the Bible does not offer the sort of background information it typically does with other pivotal prophets. Indeed, we are left knowing more about her husband's background than we know of hers, and the little information we know of her personally is largely in relation to her husband.

Hey Huldah ! Very nice Avatar    :D

Hey me and Mrs. Isaac watched this show on the History Channel the other night and the crab boys may loose rating to the Ice Truckers. These guys are cocky and crazy and make a years pay in ten weeks. Lots of danger and long hours alone on a frozen lake hauling giant loads. Sounds like the crab boys may have just a case of crabs. Frozen I hope
