Michael Vick indicted

It seems that Michael Vick has been indicted by the Federal authorities for dog fighting. It is sickening to read what was done to these poor animals. I hope he rots somewhere for this.

This man has all the money he needs but some things never change and brothers and dog fighting go hand and hand. Left hander that plays for the dirty birds (Falcons) what could be more fitting ?

As an owner of Pitbull, I have a personal hatred for this activity. Unfortunately, this behavior has given the breed a bad reputation. But there are more and more breeders who are being picky about who they will sell to. I can also tell you that when I was looking for the dog I have presently, I saw some pretty bad conditions. These people are money-driven and care nothing about the welfare of the animals. Michael Vick will hopefully be made an example of, because this sort of thing must not be tolerated.

Welcome vixweb! Nice avatar!

I think the thing that is toughest to comprehend about this situation is the fact thay this guy does not need the money. He is literally in it for blood!
It sickens me to think of it. Glad you are a responsible pitbull owner vixweb!

When my dogs became parents, I was so picky about the homes I placed my grand puppies in. I had to know without a doubt that they were going to be well taken care of or they were not leaving this house. I think if you are going to let your dog breed then you should be responsible enough to ensure that the person receiving your pup is going to be responsible with the dog. Also, there should not be overbreeding of dogs so that we do not continue to end up with so many unwanted animals. People who abuse the animals and are irresponsible should be held accountable. The animals are like small children. They can not help themselves.

I like bull dogs and my neighbor as a kid had two pit bulls and they were fun loving dogs. Why someone would want to see them kill each other for fun or money is beyond my way of thinking. I have seen bull dogs used for strike dogs on feral livestock and even that is hard to watch. The Staffordshire Terror is a good looking dog.
Petie the warrior

Have you seen what the Senator from Virginia has had to say about this? I love it. He said he has seen one death penalty carried out and he could watch another and the Michael Vick case would be the one he could watch it carried out in!

I just don't see how any human can watch any animal suffer. I don't.

Vick codefendant pleads to conspiracy

RICHMOND, Va. — One of Michael Vick's codefendants changed his plea to guilty Monday in a federal case involving an alleged dogfighting ring and agreed in open court to cooperate with proseutors.
Tony Taylor, 34, of Hampton, Va., who pleaded not guilty last week, entered his guilty plea before U.S. district judge Henry E. Holland.
The plot thickens uh.:D

well that seems to be the strategy up to this point.. try and make it "race related" apparently it's got nothing to do with betting on those dogs and killing some of those dogs.. if it was some poor s.o.b living in South Louisiana, I'd expect as much (no offense intended..:) ) but it's the fact this guy has a multi-million dollar contract to play freakin' football.. he's got to spend his spare time doing this @#$@#.

Vick to plead guilty to dogfighting charges

Sounds like that's that.. Doesn't look like ol' Vick is gonna be able to scramble out of this one ;)

Lawyer: Vick to plead guilty to dogfighting charges

Quote:

Michael Vick’s lawyer said today the NFL star will plead guilty to federal dogfighting conspiracy charges, putting the Atlanta Falcons quarterback’s career in jeopardy and leaving him subject to a possible prison term.

The offense is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine, although federal sentencing guidelines most likely would call for less.

“After consulting with his family over the weekend, Michael Vick asked that I announce today that he has reached an agreement with federal prosecutors regarding the charges pending against him,” lead defense attorney Billy Martin said in a statement.
Gee, gonna miss ol' Vick.. he used to run all over defenses last year.. but Saints crushed them twice last year :)

After seeing some of the photos of dogs in this case- I think his punishment should be a "cage match" with one of the survivor dogs

I think the worst punishment would be loosing approximately $30MM dollars in missed games and no endorsements. What could hurt worse than that!
