U.S. Attorney: Nooses, beating at Jena not directly related

joepole 09-20-2007 11:44 AM

>Critics of the case said the six black students, dubbed the "Jena 6," are being treated more harshly than the white students who hung the nooses.

I would hope so. The white students hung some nooses from a tree, the black students kicked the crap out of a guy. The latter deserves much harsher treatment.

Isaac-Saxxon 09-20-2007 11:49 AM

JP I could not agree more. This tribe mentality and marching for a brother is wrong but it is PC these days to enable the brothers to get away with anything because we owe them until time ends. BS on that they are going to get over run by the Mexicans because Mexicans will work and not rely on government hand outs. Yet another black eye for the state of LA :nono::nono:

President comments on march in Jena

rhertz 09-20-2007 11:55 AM

20,000 gathered at the courthouse....Bush commenting....David Bowie contributes $10,000....... This case is receiving a LOT of national exposure. Yet again we are in the national spotlight, but not looking good as a whole.

Where is the racism

I saw a young woman interviewed on the news as she was boarding a bus from Howard University to Jena who said she was going to Louisiana because she wanted to show that racism was indeed not dead.
My question is, "who is the racist?" The people they are going to protest against or the people on the bus?
I think defending someone against a criminal charge because of their race is in itself a racist act. The young woman did indeed show racism is not dead by being a racist herself.

Joe hit it dead on! Those people carrying signs that say" free the jena 6" don't have a clue- We should free them because the charges were too harsh?! They ganged up on a kid and beat him! If white kids had beaten a black kid, The rev.Al and rev. Jackson would be down there calling for more punishment! I can hear it now...." they ganged up on a poor black kid, look at the Racism.....":stupidmeter:

African American is a sub species of American and if you look at the Africans in Africa they act no different they just have more money and government handouts here. I think Howela made some great points too vixweb.

Pocahontas 09-21-2007 12:06 AM

This whole situation is being manipulated and blown out of proportion by the media and Al and Jesse! Are we that surprised? I think not!:(

Huh? Stereotyping based on race or origin ain't right. No race has a monopoly on acting bad. Britney Spears proved that. So did Michael Jackson. It's just too bad that a few bad apples spoil the hole bushel. But they do. I can't stand Sharpton or Jackson, but that doesn't mean I hate all African Americans. Nor do I like all Hispanic or European Americans. People come in all shapes and sizes, and so do people who don't know how to act.

I have black friends and some have told me they don't care for Jackson or Sharpton either. I can quote one friend and co-worker in particular, " those ignorant 'mustards' think they speak for the whole black race but they don't; they're self appointed.

In a world that is so very PC where is the line. The law is the law no matter your color or race. This mob has made the law of no effect. Yes I know good black people too but the majority have a chip on their shoulder. Look at the jails and the crime numbers and that will take the guess work out of it. If the African-Americans do not like Sharpton or Jackson they should stand up and be counted not sit back and let these two extortionist get away with what they do.

Things People Said During Jena Protest

rhertz 09-21-2007 12:45 PM

Why does KSLA list the skin color of the authors' quotes? Is their skin color an important thing to keep in mind as you read each quote? To keep things in context and perspective? To me that is stereotyping. A person's words are what is important, not the skin color of the person speaking those words.

Texasbelle 09-21-2007 03:58 PM

I don't really get this whole Jena situation. It is a crime to beat someone up and assault them. The six boys were charged with a legitimate crime that they committed. What is the problem? We all know if a six white boys had beat up a black boy (roles reversed) that they'd be SCREAMING to bury the white boys under the jail!!

I do not think this problem would be in the news like it is with out Jessie and Al stirring the pot.

This has nothing to do with good enough but the fact was the law was transgressed and color has nothing to do with it. I see you think the cup is half empty.

joepole 09-21-2007 05:05 PM

>The six boys were charged with a legitimate crime that they committed.

A lot of people didn't agree with this because:

1. They were originally charged with attempted 2nd degree murder

2. Because of the murder charge their cases were moved from juvenile court to regular criminal court

3. The charges were reduced to aggravated battery, which requires a weapon be involved. The prosecutors claimed the boys' shoes were weapons

4. After the charges were reduced the boys were not moved back to the juvenile system even though aggravated battery isn't one of the crimes that allow juveniles to be prosecuted as adults

5. After the conviction was thrown out and the case ordered to juvenile court he remained in adult custody

All of this is moot, anyway, as all six of them will end up in prison eventually.

I have no idea what you just said. But I'm curious....What do chitlin's taste like anyway? Is chitlin's cow brains or stomach lining? got any good chitlin recipes?

joepole 09-21-2007 05:16 PM

That's especially true if he was the kind of guy that would participate in a 6-on-1 beating of an unconscious high school student. The world is a better place without people like that regardless of their color.

There are many kinds of struggles and we all have had our own, but most of us are not expecting the world to repay us.

I don't mean to bring religion into this, but people use to burn my people at the stake. With that, my people have struggled and are still struggling to make the world understand we're not evil.

Now, if you want to talk about MY struggles, I have worked hard ever since I was in the 11th grade of high school, contributing to my society and 4 years of life to my country in the military. Regardless of who my people were, I have struggled and I expect to continue to struggle on because that's life and I don't expect anything from others.

We get it , it is people like you that keep the racism going. Even though the white boys hung a noose, that in it self is not against the law. The beating those six black kids did was against the law. As for Al and Jesse they say on tv this is not about race, they are balded faced LIARS. I myself is sick of hearing about this story. I find it funny when you talk about those white boys but you let a white person say black boy you come unglued. Why is it that way? why is it you can call whites boy. To me boy is someone younger than me, that is it, nothing about race. You know if you want racism to end then sweep around your own door first. You know not being rude, You act like the world owes you, well I don't owe you nothing. I have not owned slaves, I was not even born during that time period so why should I pay for past problems. Like I said sweep your own doorsteps first. I have some blacks that are good friends of mine, I love them to death, but they have never walked around acting like they have a chip on their shoulder against whites. We get it, you don't.

Pocahontas 09-21-2007 09:27 PM
