Ever called in sick?

Who here has called in sick when they weren't really sick? I won't say that I never have, but certainly it's been the exception rather than the rule, and at my current job I can honestly say that it hasn't happened in the 9 years I've been there. Mrs. Morph doesn't share my ideology, and frequently tries to persuade me to "take the day off". She can be (ahem) very persuasive and tonight the powers that be have royally pissed me off. The problem is that calling in sick doesn't hurt them, but my blameless coworkers, who will have to carry my load. I'm interested in hearing other experiences and perspectives.

Just will not work. The boss would fire me in a heart beat. :nono::nono: nope no dead beats at my office.

Morpheus 11-15-2007 06:43 AM

yeah well, guess who's on his way to work this morning???

Isaac-Saxxon 11-15-2007 07:17 AM

Work ? Work ? that is a four letter word. I do not understand how someone could call in sick or show up late and feel like they should be paid for work not rendered. Hope you all have a great day at work. :D No dead beats on the payroll :nono:

I have never called in sick, but then again, I've been self employed for 24 years... I guess I put in my application to the real world and they accepted! :duck:

Snow day

"If you love what you do, you'll never have to work a day in your life."
I forget who said that, maybe Will Rogers.
Anyway, at my business, when you're sick, (or vacation etc.) The "powers that be" screw your area up so bad it takes as long as you were gone to fix it.
Easier just to work.

Fav sick call

On the other hand, for years I held a position with this company where I was the one who received the call......
My all time favorite was from the wife of a salesman who had left early the day before to go to court.
She said, "Gerald won't be in for a while, he's been unavoidably detained for 60 to 90 days.
