Boil order issued for Blanchard water

The town of Blanchard was placed under a water boil order this evening.

LateNight 01-30-2007 08:39 PM

some more of that KTBS article:
Quote:

The town of Blanchard was placed under a water boil order this evening.

Town officials said they are experiencing purity problems with their water supply system. The boil order will remain in effect until it's lifted by the state health department.

Town officials did not immediately release the reasons for the boil order, except to say that there were concerns about "microbiological quality."
that's just freakin' great. That's all I need.
I don't drink Blanchard water as it is anyway, seems every 3 months or so, we get a letter that says "oh the water you've been drinking for the last few months had too much of this or that in it. blah blah blah" so I've been a Music Mountain water customer for a long time now. I just use blanchard water for my ice, and to give my dog.. but I can't even do that now.. FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD !!!!!

HAHA very funny.. Boil order or not, I don't drink Blanchard water.. well I say that, but I do use the ice ... but no, I'd never just straight up drink Blanchard water.

Anyway there's been an update to the water issue:
Blanchard water boil order COULD be lifted tomorrow

Quote:

Residents of Blanchard may be able to stop boiling their drinking water tomorrow.

The town was put under a boil water order Tuesday afternoon when water turbidity levels got too high, said Blanchard Utilities Superintendent Robert McEachern.

“We’re working to get this under control,” McEachern said. “We were shooting for today but hopefully we’ll get this back down by tomorrow.”

This is getting freakin' old.

The Blanchard boil order continues, going on the 4th day.
They say the problem is "fixed" but the bad water still exist in the water supply.

News reports were saying they had hoped to have the boil order lifted on Thursday, but that was no go.

I called Blanchard Utilities late last night, and was told it could still be a few more days of this #$@#$.

What ticks me off so much about this, is the general unacceptable quality of the Blanchard water in the first place. I pay a small fortune to have Music Mountain water delivered to my home for drinking purposes anyway.

In Blanchard, if you are a day or two late in paying your water bill, they CUT YOU OFF. I wonder if I'll get some kind of freakin' discount on my upcoming water bill.. I doubt it.. but damn. You'd think in this day and age you should be able to drink the damn water in an American town. But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

The latest update I could find:
Blanchard boil order continues; mayor says problem fixed

Quote:

Blanchard officials say the water-boil order put into effect Tuesday afternoon will continue until contaminated water is out of the water system.

"We got the problem fixed," said Blanchard Mayor Johnny Digilormo. "The contaminated water has to go through the system and be filtered out so the new water can go through."

Digilormo says officials at the Blanchard water plant worked to unplug a chemical pipe that allowed untreated water to mix with treated water that went to residents' homes Tuesday and Wednesday.

"Everything is fine now but we are waiting to lift up the boil order," the mayor said.

well TGIF anyways.

It is global warming causing the problem. We should write President Bush and ask him why he did this to us. It has to be his fault

Where's the freakin' news coverage on this story. Last bit of news I heard was that the problem was "Fixed" but here it is Sunday and we're still under a "Boil Order" for our freakin' water ! I haven't seen any news updates on this, including KTBS, KSLA and Shreveport Times.. latest anyone reported was freakin' FRIDAY.

UGHHHHHHH

And on and on and on

Freakin' Water woes continue in Blanchard !!

Quote:

The department blames the cold weather and recent rainfall on the boil water order. Officials there say chemicals used to clean the water solidified as the temperatures dropped, causing distribution pipes to become clogged. But the people of Blanchard say they want something done about it, especially if they're paying to drink the water. Blanchard water department officials say the problem should be fixed this week. A water engineer is coming in to help them get their tap flowing clear again.

Water Problems Continue for the Town of Blanchard

LateNight 02-06-2007 10:17 PM

Well that latest bit of news from KTAL, stated they hoped the water would be good by "tuesday" .. TODAY.. but alas, that's a no go.

I tried calling the Blanchard utility office today at 4pm NO answer.. not even a recording that could possibly have given some update or something.
I tried calling the Blanchard "Maintenance" office today at 4, NO ANSWER.
I finally called the Blanchard Police office, to see if I could get some answers.. official word from them "Maybe tomorrow"

UGHHHHHHHH

screw that. I wouldn't drink the water on a good day. what with all the letters I receive telling me the water we had for the previous 3 months was 'sub par' but it'll only cause cancer if you drank it for 20 years !!!

On a good day, I'll take a shower in it, brush my teeth with it.. I'll even use it in my ice.. but down right drink it.. HELL NO !!!!!

Thinking of sending Blanchard Utility company a bill for all my Music Mountain water !

Shrevenator 02-07-2007 12:09 AM

Boil order lifted in Blanchard

LateNight 02-07-2007 11:15 AM

It's about time

Oh happy day.
I managed to call the blanchard utility office and got an A OK from them. So I guess this means we're back to the same ol' crappy water we had before, but I can still use it for ice now :)

from KTBS:
Quote:

The water boil order in the Caddo Parish town of Blanchard has been lifted, Mayor Johnny Digilormo said.

The boil order went into effect eight days ago after a clog in a line caused some untreated water to get into the system, town officials said. That clog caused a malfunctioning in the water-treatment process.

The state health department approved lifting the boil shortly after 8 a.m. today, Digilormo said.
