Forums running very slow?

It could just be me, but other sites I'm loading are moving much more quickly than this one. Surely server load can't be that high at just after midnight on a sunday night...

<edit>
case in point, it took almost 30 seconds for the server to render a response to my request to edit this post and put this content in. </edit>

I've been noticing this as well.. I've been seeing a problem with other sites that are hosted either at ShreveNet or hosted off ShreveNet.. I'm not sure if it's something related directly with ShreveNet or something happening between them and further up the net..

what's troubling me is that with this being a fairly new site, and people are coming and doing their initial 15 second preview look before coming back later and spending "quality time" they're getting irritated by the load times and not making round 2.

But just for the record, I'll repeat that a vbulletin site with this minor little traffic load on it shouldn't run this slow, unless it's being hosted on ancient equipment fed out by an insufficient bandwidth pipe. I'm used to MUCH heavier forum usage and watching things scream right along.

I'm trying to do my part and flesh out the forums a bit with topics people can feel free to comment on and get involved, but am getting frustrated with the speed myself. I have to assume new folks have the same reaction.

Thanks for the report

you are correct, there was a problem. although not on this server. We're not sure on the specifics as of yet, but we have eliminated the problem.

don't know what you did, but things are definitely more "snappy" now. :)

thanks
