Let's Rate A Restaurant!

Well folks it is time to spread the word on your favorite restaurants. Tell where its located, rate their service and overall cleanliness, their food preparation, comments if you have some.

I was just curious, Pie....do you go to any McDonald's now or have you boycotted them altogether?

Another restaurant that has it's moments is McAllisters. If you dine in it is alright (I know there's better food but it's quick). Everytime we've picked up they have gotten something wrong. The way they package it it is hard to tell if all is correct. Guess we will give up one day, but so far we keep hoping!

Good places to eat? I'll tell ya about a great place...Carraba's at 70th and Youree...10's across the board! Hands down the best food in Shreveport. Drop in and try the Sirloin Marsala, medium well, with garlic mashed potatos and a bowl of their sausage & bean soup (my usual order). I just cant sing the praises of that place loud enough, its that damn good.

joepole 10-22-2007 11:20 AM

OK, I was pretty sure you were kidding when you said your favorite restaurant was Chili's, but now I am certain you are joking when you say Carrabba's is "the best food in Shreveport." Carrabba's serves the same food as every other chain restaurant in town: frozen Sysco meals usually cooked in a microwave. It's not bad if that's what you're looking for, but it's not even in the top 25 "best restaurants in town." Aren't they owned by Outback?

As for getting to-go orders correct, I've ordered maybe 500 box lunches from heavenly Ham (in-office meetings and such) and even if I send a secretary with no knowledge of what anybody ordered I get every single box lunch correct every single time.

My favorite restaurants in town are:

High end: Superior Steakhouse, Bella Fresca, and Ernests.

Middle end: Superior Bar and Grill, Tokyo, Copeland's

Low end : Chick Fil A, Taco Bell, and Po Boy Express!

joepole 10-22-2007 01:08 PM

I ate at Bella Fresca Wednesday night. They've changed the menu (they got rid of my fish!) so it was different, but still great. It's definitely in the top few for this town.

My Review of Texas Roadhouse

I've got one!

Texas Roadhouse
1005A Gould Drive
Bossier City, LA 71111

Texas Roadhouse is a nice little country steakhouse right next to Rockin Rodeo on Gould Drive. Though country music rings from the place, the music isn't so loud that you can't hear yourself think. The place is decorated with stuffed hunting game to give it a nice country, outdoors feel. I like the armadillo holding the beer bottle! :D The waitresses also tend to improve the scenery, if you catch my drift. ;)

There is a nice little bar where bartenders can get you just about anything I could want. TVs with sports surround the bar, so it's not a bad place to hang out if you're looking for a place to bring your fellow sports nut buddies for a drink.

The food is excellent, albeit somewhat slow in preparation, but the appetizers include a bucket of peanuts at the table (shells disposed of by tossing on the floor), some excellent rolls, and the impossibly enormous cactus blossom (sliced onion fried in a blossom pattern).

Service - 6
I gave them a 6 in service because I'm a stickler for getting my food reasonably quick. Texas Roadhouse is usually average at best at their speed, so a 6 is generous.

Cleanliness - 7
I give them a 7 here because the appearance of the place is very clean and well maintained. The only gripe I could possibly have is the peanut shells which aren't a huge problem.

Food Preparation - 9
Oh, the food is excellent! It's everything you'd want from a steakhouse. The rolls are fantastic, the steaks are awesome, and the cactus blossom is impressive!

Cost - 5
The bill was kinda pricey. Steakhouses are usually a little expensive, so I'm giving the Roadhouse an average mark here.

In conclusion, I'd eat at Texas Roadhouse every week if I could. Go on by and see for yourself.

Good Eats in North BC! VERY tasty!

A sandwich, salad, soup and wrap place. It is locally owned by kind folks and is old fashioned in appearance. It is always packed at noon! The food is delicious especially the sandwiches made panini style!:)

My favorite restaurants in town are:

High-end: Superior Steakhouse and Chianti's

Middle end: Sushi bars!

Low end : Sandwiches from Target. Darn good for $2.99

Texasbelle 10-22-2007 10:14 PM

Did anybody try Wine Country before it closed? It's closed due to a structural issue with Pierremont Mall I believe.

Al Swearengen 10-23-2007 12:59 AM

Superior Steakhouse is good food but wayyyy over-priced. They get high marks for atmosphere, though...and thanks to the health-nazis, ya cant relax in one of those clubchairs and smoke a cigar in front of that huge fireplace anymore.

joepole 10-23-2007 08:30 AM

The guy that runs wine country is a good friend of mine (I've been a little anti-social this month, I didn't even know it closed), I'll ask him what the deal was.

piemaker720 10-23-2007 08:43 AM

If anyone needs a sandwich on the go. Walmart on Airline Drive back by the deli has a lunch box [ it's a plastic box that folds like a lunch box] in it you get a sandwich [either ham or turkey] that has lettuce but no mayo or mustard. You also get an apple, pack of cookies, a cheese stick, a box of juice and I can't remeber if there is anything else but it is good and it is priced at around $2.50.
