An appeals court in the U.S. state of Wisconsin refused to overturn the conviction of a prisoner who said no one ever saw him write a threatening letter to a judge, ruling that he put his name and return address on the envelope.

thank goodness that guy had a good business teacher or a cellmate who was a postal worker

As much as I hate to say it, this is a load of crap. No where does this story indicate that the prosecution took any steps what so ever to prove he was guilty of writing or sending the letter.

They could have checked the letter for fingerprints, brought in a hand writing expert to analyze a sample against the evidence, they could have even tested the sticky on the evenlope and the stamp for DNA

....but they didn't do anything.

I could write a letter, attach the return address of anyone here, and drop it in the mail bag.....that's called a shadow of doubt.

WHY would I do that? He looked at me funny in the shower. I'm in jail what do I have to lose for trying.....
