A New Planet Has Been Discovered

For the first time astronomers have discovered a planet outside our solar system that is potentially habitable, with Earth-like temperatures, a find researchers described Tuesday as a big step in the search for "life in the universe."

Texasbelle 04-25-2007 08:35 AM

Maybe we could take a vote and decide who to cast off this island and send them there!

Neo 04-25-2007 10:52 AM

We just voted off Pluto as a planet. I guess if you substract one, then you find another one somrwhere else.

Everyone talks about the end of the world- would that be just Earth or all of them?

Great idea.....looks like the vote is 4 billion in FAVOR of shipping off the christians.

Neo 04-25-2007 11:17 AM

Brainsmashr, Al Sharpton may be calling you. That would be segregation, especially if the planet was called Africa.

AnimeSpirit 04-25-2007 01:00 PM

They actually tend to name planets after Gods and Goddesses, particularly Greek and Roman deities (i.e. Mercury, Uranus, Jupiter, Neptune, etc.). I wonder what name they will give this new planet. In fact, I wonder where they name "Earth" came from.

purpahurl 04-25-2007 04:15 PM

New Planet

Maybe the people who believe in the RAPTURE are going here.

If you get raptured you will be with the heathens :nono: There is NO such thing as "THE RAPTURE" in the Christian Bible.

Well until science comes up with a method of traveling 120 trillion miles in the lifespan of one individual, it looks like your stuck.

Of course you could also pray for a solution. That works, right?

Believe it or not, prayer does work for many people. Just because it may not work for you doesn't necessarily make it a laughable matter to others who do put their faith in prayer. I certainly to not laugh at you because you may think humans were created out of a mud puddle or primordial soup without any intelligent designer.

Fair enough. The first person who delivers a method of transportation to "Earth2" that they acquired solely through the power of prayer will not only gain my complete and utter respect. I'll kneel before your god and pledge my undying loyalty.

You see, rhertz, there's a difference between prayer "working" and prayer "working for people". It may settle your nerves and give you a sense of clam you've never experienced before, but it won't provide the means for you to fly to another planet.

How do we know it is a planet ? Because science tells us so until they change their mind at which time it will not longer be a planet

That's how it works.

We make the names, we create the classifications, we change the criteria when we feel the need.

MAN, the only truly omnipotent being.

Brain you remind me of the Bumble Bee

The Bumble Bee
A Bumble Bee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there until it
dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the
top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near
the bottom. It will seek a way where none exists, until it completely
destroys itself.

People
In many ways, we are like the Bumble Bee. We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations, never realizing that all we have to do is look up.

AMEN!! (that is that)

Of course it's true, dumbazz, but not because of the reason you listed. It's because bees can't fly vertically, just like the buzzard in your other story and probably 95% of the rest of the flying creatures of the world.

The point of prayer is not for God to give you what you want. Prayer is for worshiping and praising the Creator. When you ask for something, the point is to A) name your request, but also to B) ask for the strength to handle the situation if God says, "No". He doesn't say "No" because he doesn't like or love us, but because he wants us to rely on Him and not on ourselves or earthly things.

Matty yet another good post  We should not fear the Lord but revere the Lord would be a better translation.

Either this sentence was typed in error or your even dumber than I thought possible.

Rely on God to prepare your supper from now on instead of yourself or your family, then rely on him to bring you to work every morning instead of you or your feet. Hopefully you'll come to your senses before you get fired or starve to death.

Well it is head cracker again doing his evil deeds :nono: You act like a dog that has been beat too much or kept on a short chain to long. You rely on yourself for everything Legion or your master Satan. Tear it down, tear it down never to build up that is your plight in life to the pit of filth you go you poor evil bastard. I even Santabot had enough of your lies and insults so why don't you just move on and find some of your kind if that be possible.

It seems to me that you are trying to prove that religious are more well behaved than anyone else.

God gave me the intellect, will, and ability to cook my own dinner, feet, or the ability to earn money and buy a car to get myself to work.

Isaac,

Let's keep it civil. Name calling and cut-downs don't help.

I see, so YOU didn't buy the stove you're cooking on?
YOU didn't receive some type of training in the kitchen so you would know the difference between a knife and a fork?
No one EVER taught you how to fry an egg, you were simply born with this "god given talent"?

Why do I get the distinct feeling you're a liar or a VERY confused individual?

He did not say Brain that he would or could stop. Just because he is a Christian does not make him perfect. You would like to think he has to be perfect because then you can bash on him more which is your favorite thing to do...bash on the Christians. Christians are not perfect. He is not pretending to be and he does not have to sit and take your constant barrage of hatred.

You are a mean man and no wonder you spend hours online on a computer by yourself. No one would want to be with you while you are so full of venom. There is a way to change though!!!!

LAF

I've just got to laugh at someone talking about the amount of time I spend online when you've got more posts than me and joined a month later.

This is why I pick on you and Isaac. You have a very BAD problem of starting your mouth before engaging your brain. Your religious affiliations are just frosting on the cake.

In fact, had you bothered to view our profiles, you'd see that you are averaging nearly twice as many (13.26) posts per day as me (7.63). I realize most folks didn't need proof of your blatantly obvious lie, but you have to admit it's a nice touch.:D :D

My average is 6.89  I am sure you knew that already seeing how you know everything but what it is like to be liked by people  You would be on more if you did not have to punch in each day and go crack heads for a living. I guess those poor guys have to speak to you. I am sure you fit right in with the chain gang. You are the one that lives by your lies and hate so buddy you NEVER did give a answer to the question are your Christian family scum as you described ALL Christians ?

Actually I DID answer that question.

I guess you were to busy passing judgment to pay attention to what's going on around you. Typical christian piece of trash.

BTW, I noticed your post count fell drastically when a real man showed up and put you in your place with your Anti-American bull**** like calling people Socialist for supporting THE FIRST AMENDMENT and separation of church and state (psst, I noticed you stopped doing it too:laugh:  )....

I've really got to hand it to you all. Out of some 30 something replies to this thread, I think maybe just one of them was on topic. I feel sorry for the person looking here for a disussion on a "New Planet" discovery. ;)

Anyways..
Yea, it could use a new name other than what they are calling it now.. :"581 c" now that's orginal :)

Attachment 409
This artistic illustration released by the European Southern Observatory on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, shows planets orbiting the red dwarf star, Gliese 581. Astronomers believe that the newly discovered planet Gliese 581 c, left, is potentially habitable.

Brian, where to start with your vast knowledge of the world. Please do not speak of subjects you have no knowledge of. The bee in the jar can fly straight up to exit the container but does not because it can see through the glass and does not understand the barrier between it and the outside. The bee can not climb well on glass, or it would crawl up the glass and out the top. A Bubble Bee can fly vertically! I have seen thousands of bees and if you would like me to document this for you I will. The next time you are at work, watching other people, take a minute and look at the bees and you will notice they can fly in all directions.

Thank you for allowing the world to see the mind of a Prison Guard! :peace:

BrainSmashR 04-29-2007 10:55 AM

I'm not a prison guard, and yeah, I'd like to see your documentation showing bumble bees flying vertically which is considerably different than gaining altitude during horizontal flight.

I suspect we'll see you paid attention as well there as you did to my occupation.

Oh excuse me, I have this forum I visit, check my email, and that's all of my computer time. You however have your own website, personal ads, you are on this website, and we've googled you in the past and found you on other sites as well. Please don't think that I spend all my free time on this board. Such is not the case. I have a very full life and this is but just a teeny weeny bit of my day. I have a wonderful husband, beautiful children, a lovely home, great dogs, and all other sorts of things that I do and take care of throughout the day. Now please tell me what does your life consist of?
