Shreveport Rib Joint Smokey Bones Closes

Shreveport restaurant Smokey Bones on Youree Drive closes down as part of its "future growth plan"

I went in there a couple of times and it was always almost completely empty.

Never been there, but I do love bar-B-Q

Italian restaurants seem to thrive in that area for some reason. Seems like they just completed Smokey Bones less than a year ago. I never went there but I doubt it beats Country Tavern BBQ. (behind the auto mall)

Mrs. Pie what is your favorite cut of meat :D

piemaker720 05-07-2007 01:15 PM

If you mean bar-b-q, it would have to be chicken, smoked sauage and the beef. They are all good, just give me a combo, uhmmm!

We've been there once several months back. It was OK, but thats about all I could say about it. One of my stepsons worked there for about a week, said he had to wade thru about an inch of raw chicken water in the kitchen every night, but that aint all that surprisin. Workin in the food service industry just plain sucks.

Maybe that's why when I eat out, I like to sit at the sushi bar where I can watch my food being skillfully prepared by the closest thing there is to an "iron chef" in our area. :D

We have one here in S. FLorida I'm surprised it didn't survive there. I remember when it opened I was living there back in 2005. I guess too many people love italian there as you said i know i do!:D

Gone and Goner

Yeah, I kind of liked the place. The kids could watch the tv while my wife and I chatted. The food was not the best b-b-q I have ever had, however, it was not bad. I guess we will have to find another b-b-q joint. :)

Have you tried Country Tavern?

joepole 05-15-2007 07:36 PM

Wife and I went to Country Tavern last night after not having been for a few months (been busy having another baby).

1. What the hell happened to the staff? It used to consist 100% of moderately attractive-to-super hot girls. Last night it was all dogs. Did they change owners?

2. The ribs last night were the best I've ever had there.

The manager used to work at the Acura dealership. I forget his name but I bought a Legend from him once. I think he is gone now. The BBQ is still good, but the decor may have changed in his absense. Just a guess..
