Should We Be Starting School This Early?

A Caddo teachers union and the superintendent of schools today weighed in on the debate why the new school year has started in the heat of summer.

A good rule of thumb if you're undecided on an issue is to find out what the teachers' unions position is and then believe the opposite. There is no reason to not have year-round school in this country. Throwing a 3-month gap into school for no reason is stupid and bad for our kids.

That said, Jackie Lansdale is a hell of a lady. I disagree with her on most everything, but she's smart and works hard. I wish she had a different job, though.

I agree with this post joe  the teachers' union is a bloated machine that can never get enough hand outs. The idea of year around school is something I have been in support of for years. I do not know Jackie Lansdale.

But if our children go to school all summer, who's going to pick the cotton now that slavery is abolished? Oh I forgot, Illegal Immigrants... nevermind.
