Racial Tension at Northwood High School
 

The president of the NAACP in Shreveport is keeping his eye on the situation. He says he plans on giving school officials time to deal with the issue before stepping in.

The president of the NAACP Chapter in Shreveport, James Pannell, is keeping his eye on the situation. Pannell says he plans on giving school officials time to deal with the issue before stepping in. Pannell says, "In the Jena situation, they were given the opportunity to rectify the situation and they didn't. School systems should be given that same opportunity,"

Now that is so nice of James Pannell to be keeping his :eyeball: on the situation. I am sure he is a Jessie and Al want to be. I am sure the nice folks at Northwood can handle up on this situation. James did get some press out of it. This racial tension has been around for a very long time. I can remember when the buses came to Captain Shreve and the fights started. I must say at Parkway High that the kids seem to get along pretty good. Lot of military folks that have good manners and a police department that is proactive. I am sure James Pannell would love to stir the pot if he gets a chance. :rolleyes:

Being a proud Northwood graduate, I don't think there is "racial tension" at the school. I know lots of kids who attend school there and things seem to be fine. The only problem with this will be the fuel the NAACP pours out to try and start a fire. Obviously , the school administrators handled the situation and NAACP should not blow it out of proportion.

I think someone might be feeling a little left out of the recent Jena hype. If there is no racial tension then we'll just create some by reporting that there is. This way everyone is happy, the news media sells papers and gets big headlines, and James Panel can look like he's doing something. Of course us white folks will take the fall for all of it.

I hear that some students might not be going to school tomorrow at Northwood because of all the tension and rumors. But I don't know any details..

I think Racial Tension is every where. The media and net along with sheet birds like Al and Jessie and now bro James is getting some local action. Northwood does not need this crap and I hope somebody does not do something to make national news we have had enough for this state till eternity. You wan to see some tension read the comments on Shreveport times on their columns and it is bitter, bitter. Anybody got a fix let me know ?
I am glad to live in south Bossier. Very good demographics but we too are not immune to this crap.

I hate this kind of stuff- The kids look at the adults to see their reactions to certain situations. When the adults make a big deal out of it, the tensions are validated in the eyes of the kids, especially when the motives are racial in nature. Does anyone think the attention given to Jena has helped tensions there? Most likely, they have been pushed back through many years of progress. It is unfortunate that the parents on BOTH sides do not step-up and 'nix' these attitudes at home- :peace:

Good post Vix. I sometimes wonder what the children in Jena think when Al and Jesse show up. Raise a stink and you get your way? Would Al or Jesse ever visit Jena had there been no local event to grab their attention? Over-reaction is politically correct and kids learn from the adults close by.

I am sick to death about all this racial tension CRAP. I grew up with country black folks, and I could count on them better than some of my white friends. To this day it's the same way. There ain't no racial tension but what's created by people that want tension. This makes me want to scream!! I am an employer and we only employ black folks, and they get paid very good. To the man, the Justice brothers speak for none of them. This is Bull $h!!T!!!!!! My oldest son is 5 and his best friends are "brown", in his words, he will not know racial tension from me or anyone else in my family until he actually sees it himself, and that is going to be a damn long time, maybe never. He comes to work with me sometimes and loves these men, who happen to be "brown", and doesn't think a thing about it. That is as it should be! So NAACP and anyone else out there sturing up trouble kiss my ass!!!!

Have a cup of the midnight oil Purpa :D It is so true that when left alone black and whites will get along just fine. When the media and politicians get involved there will be problems.

This just in ! from your roving LateNight reporter.. Apparently a bunch of Police and news reporters up at Northwood right now.. not sure what's going on, All looked good and peaceful around 9am this morning as I drove by.

I am perplexed by the lack of local news stories. Just one on Ark-la-tex homepage and thats it. Maybe these reporters haven't had a chance to get back to the office and start typing.. :D
