Mike Campbell retires as Shreveport Police Chief

No shocker there eh? Its common practice for a new mayor to appoint his own man for that job. Campbell knew his days were numbered as chief. I think Kelvin Cochran's job is probably pretty safe though.

He said it had nothing to do with Cedric Glover at all. More like scheduled retirement. Any chance of that being true? Even a broken clock is correct twice per day.

I suppose that could be the case...but we didn't hear a peep about his retirement before the election...and it just sounds better than "Well, the new bossman was gonna gimme the axe anyway!" Campbell will probably end up workin for the sheriff now.

Well, now we know!
 

Yeah, sure enough...Glover told him he wanted a "homegrown" man in the catbird seat. His leavin was pretty much a foregone conclusion...Now Glover'll reward somebody for their loyalty by makin em the top cop in the city...chief serves at the mayor's leisure....aint politics great?

Time for change
 

Wayne Smith will be your next chief of police. He is a customer of mine and a very nice guy. He has his masters from Centenary and is a Sharpe guy. Time will tell but I think I am right on the money this time. I sure would not like to be the Chief of Police in Shreveport. Maybe a black Chief will be able to deal with the west side crime better than the last Chief.
