She is pathetic!

Why is this news? Aren't about 50 million cell phones stolen every day? Is it worse to steal from a disabled person? Their property is worth more because they are disabled?

I would say the cell phone stealing is not the news.. It's that a person put in a position of trust, has stolen something PERIOD. So I guess it is more of a cautionary tale.

No joepole is right. If the person was not disabled, the story would not have made the news. In fact, call SPD and report your phone being stolen and see if they even come to you and bother to file a report. Well, the next time your phone is stolen that is! :D

The big deal is the woman who stole the cell phone from the disabled person was a caregiver for him. It is appalling to steal from anyone, but it is worse when you have been trusted to care for someone and you steal from them. You are taking advantage of the disadvantaged.

I admit it may all be trivial. But I compare it to someone at home in a hospice care type situation, or someone in a nursing home or assisted living type atmosphere. These people who are entrusted to care for the sick. You'd like to think they aren't going to steal stuff.

50 million ? That even number makes me wonder if old Joe did his home work ? With that said care takers could not steal anything with out gaining someone's trust enough to come into their home and that is malice with malice. If you never trusted someone is one thing but once you trust someone and they rip you off well search your feeling how would you feel ? They have a laws about cruelty to the infirmed or abuse of the infirmed or disabled. It would seem that in some cultures stealing is just part of another day
