I get your point about Russia, however regarding linking countries together with telecommunications is a good thing IMHO. Communication is one way to help avoid wars. It is the countries that don't have computer links that scare me. They don't even want their own citizens to communicate. In some places, using the Internet grounds for severe punishment. I'm speaking of countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, and many more. Years ago I remember seeing a world map of places where it was legal and illegal to use the Internet. Some places (in red) had the death penalty for using the Internet. I don't know if that is still the case or not. We should all thank our lucky stars we all live in the USA.
