I have a DREAM
I have a dream, that someday the following will come true:
___that a lost child in an Amber alert will be returned unharmed to his parents, having not been raped and killed by some pedophile; ___that all heads of household have a job, because if they did not work, neither would they eat; ___that all of the jobs that have gone outside of this great nation because of greedy politicians, would be restored to Americans, so that working fathers had good paying jobs and moms could stay home, raise their children, instead of their offspring being raised by the State; ___that divorce is unheard of, and that families stay together as ordained by the Creator; ___that men of honor would do more praying in front of their children; ___that the government of Mexico helped their people, so they were not bankrupting the American citizens; ___that all convicted felons who did murder innocent peoples were promptly hung in the town square as an example, to promote safety for the people; ___that those who would steal had to repay restitution, or work on a chain-gang until the debt is paid to their victims; ___that unruly juveniles had to work in organic gardens rather than lay on their backsides watching television in comfort; ___that courage, honor, duty and responsibility for ones actions were taught in the school system ___that doctors and medical personnel who participate in infanticide are arrested as murderers and the woman charged with a hate crime against her own offspring; |

Great post! I, for one, would just wish people were much more empathic with each other and far less indifferent. This is a very tall order. If mankind were more empathic, it would be impossible to harm someone without feeling the pain yourself. There would be no murder, no rape, no more hate crimes, no more fear of each other, because we would all feel each other's pain and strive to ensure no one hurts because when one is in pain, all are in pain.
What is fantastic about empathy is the reverse is also true. A single extremely wonderous person could bring joy and excitement to a depressed crowd like an entertainer on a stage. We see this all the time in theaters and public shows (i.e. stand-up comedy, magic shows, etc.). When you laugh at a comedian's joke or stand in awe at a magician's wonderous tricks, you are yielding to his emotions and thus changing your own, even if it's just for the moment. As you can see, empathy involes these two opposing forces and we already know that emotion is contageous. If you are severely depressed, others will not smile around you. Conversely, if you are excessively happy and do not mind showing it, others cannot frown around you. These facts are proof that mankind is not without some empathy, but I think it's not enough.
