Louisiana Almost At The Bottom When It Comes To Child Care

Those regulatory weaknesses in Louisiana's standards of child-care centers placed the state one above the worst in the nation.

I never put my children in child-care. I had someone come to my home to care for them when I had to work because of the problems with child-care centers. My children were rarely sick.

My wife works at a church preschool and the parents will bring them to school when they are sick knowing they are going to get called back to come get them. Does not slow them down. I was blessed to have my wife at home with our three until they where grown. Not perfect but good kids and good grades. Good behavior is no accident.

this isn't surprising really kinda matches our education system too. Basically our politicans are corrupt, our child care is horrid and our education system is usually running even with Mississippi.

Can anyone think of anything else we lack here? I know the roads are pathetic and we are taxed on everything! Where I Live now it's interesting we may pay high property taxes (they are trying to change that now) but we pay no state taxes and people on social security aren't taxed on their checks but in Louisiana they are.

I agree with your post Scarlett. Your kids are adults now but there kids will need even more from their parents and do not look to the "system" to help them to excel that will have to come from the parents. Hard love takes much work and time from the parent and for our children sake and our future it is all worth every minute.

I had to have tough love with one of mine and it's paying off now. She always thought the grass was greener on the other side. She is feeling it now but I am still here for her if she needs but some have to learn lessons the hardway

I was fortunate enough to be able to stay home with my children till they went to school. I was so poor that if i would have worked it would have sucked my small check and then some. The public school system is the worse and I can say that comparing it to what my kids had in Louisiana vs Florida. They really do care here about education, my bill for taxes tells me so each year! They build new schools non-stop it's crazy. In Bossier/Shreveport they could never get funding, not even an ac for the boys gym at Parkway.

1 Parent home raising children.
1 Parent working.
Parental involvement in school system.
Teach children respect for authority.
Teach morals to children.
Set good example for children.
Put children's needs before your own.

There will be less crime, welfare, and problems in schools.

Our state has a large number of people on welfare and this causes many problems. Compare the states who are more successful with states who are not and you will see I am right.

Do to the cost of living and the tax man it takes two in many cases out working to pay the bills. Me and my wife where blessed enough to have her at home. She has her degree in education and it has paid off big time in that she is sooooooo devoted to our kids that in the early years she got them off to a good start and they pass us up in education now by light years but that good start was key. Nice long post Isabella did not know you had that much copy in you

Isaac, sometimes you can do without certain things for one parent to stay home with children. If you cannot provide food, clothing, medical care, and shelter on one income then it is necessary for two to work. When you have two parents who are never home it is difficult to provide the care and emotional support children need.

I agree. I have noticed that in past decades, the man could provide enough on his paycheck alone while the woman stayed home with the kids. But in this day and age, it usually takes two paychecks to make ends meet. The cost of living continues to rise while minimum wage remains at a 10 year stand-still. What is Congress doing? Voting themselves a raise.

On the other hand, I'm also willing to say that too many people are turning down education that lead to those decent jobs that pay enough.
