Comments on: Carousel Lounge
Reader comments and feedback for the Carousel Lounge photo.
This image is part of the Historic Photos photo gallery Well, it was the Carousel Lounge - now renamed the sign's merry-go-round motif extended indoors to a vision complete with the slowly rotating lounge encircling the bar. As the martini glass and other booze inconography testifies, the sign left no doubt about this place's purpose. Youree Drive. Just around the corner to The Cub. And the Rusty Nail (formerly Tape City?)

The bar still rotated when I visited back in the day. Or so it seemed.

http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=32.481909~-93.723925&style=h&lvl=19&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&encType=1

4/2002 |

Ah yes, the Carousel Lounge.. went there on many occasion for lunch when it was Trejos.. the last time I was there, Oct 24, 2004, at which point the bar didn't rotate anymore.. me and my brother had rushed down there to catch a Saints game which wasn't airing on regular local t.v. we watched the game. That's the last time I got to see my brother.
Some nice pics, thanks for posting them. |

I ate there at lunch when it was Trejo's.. but I don't ever remember it rotating. I figured they turned it off after the bar closed and before the restaurant opened. Spinning floors and mexican food might not mix well..
