Karl Hasten wants to go head to head with casinos for a share of the midlevel concert market.

Does he not realize that the Municipal Auditorium is a terrible, terrible facility for hosting a concert? I'm sure it was state-of-the-art in 1950, but in 2007 it's a craphole.

Not only is it a bad place for a concert it is in a very bad part of town. It is a
great landmark and has a place in history. I think James Burton and Elvis did concerts there but I could be corrected on that. Hey LN what light can you shed on this ??

James Burton is at best a footnote in music history. He's really good, however, at selling himself to his hometown.

I know the likes of James Burton or Maggie Warwick, have tried over the years to put on/promote shows at the Municipal.. Obviously there's a lot of history there. home of the louisiana hayride, etc etc.. And it's located on Elvis Presley Ave. ![]() |
