People who don't vote, don't have the right to complain about our government. Jones is a great guy.

It does take a great guy to do great things. It takes someone with the back bone to do great things. I am a minority in Shreveport and I want my fair share of the entitlements.

Where is my fair share. I am educated, serving the community in an honorable career. I guess my fair share is being in a high tax bracket. As minority status, according to shreveport census I am a minority as well

Not Voting

>People who don't vote, don't have the right to complain about our government.

Sure, they do.

>I guess my fair share is being in a high tax bracket

Our community doesn't have an income tax.

Our community still has to comply with all state and federal regulations. Our commmunity elects officials that particpitate in state and federal decisions.

No, but it could be argued that a "sales tax" is just another form of income tax. Typically the more someone makes, the more they spend proportionally. Of course there are exceptions. But I don't know very many poor people who drive BMW's or rich people who drive Saturns. Most people spend in relation to what they earn.

I've never added up what I pay in income tax, plus social security tax, plus property tax, plus sales tax, plus inventory/property tax, plus payroll tax, plus plus plus... I'm pretty sure it's a substantial amount!

Bracket

Sales tax isn't bracketed. Everybody in the city is in the same tax bracket sales tax-wise.

Why would anybody not vote ? What about our friend Stelly the tax man. Not
everybody pays the same sales tax. You can go to Bossier to shop and pay
more or out of the city limits and pay less or out of state and pay nothing on
tax free days. I find it hard to take anybody serious that does not vote it kind of taints anything they write or say. I know if I did not vote I would not
tell anyone ! Sounds like a socialist idea.

Jones is not mayor so his competience is none of my business since I don't pay his salary with my taxes. Glover now has his turn in the limelight. Glover is where the focus will be for years to come. It is probably too early ask what has he done so far, but I would like to know what his plan for Shreveport is? I like a politician who says "I'm going to do this, this and this" and then actually does it! Even if it is "I'm going to raise taxes, cut services, and build a hotel", as long as he or she does it, then at least they are honest and effective. I truly hope Glover is effective at making Shreveport a better place to live which is what it takes to attract new business and new and better jobs. (which makes it an even better place to live, and so on) Building a city is like building a snowball that is in competition with other snowballs.

OK, maybe that wasn't the best analogy. On the otherhand, I sometimes hear the term "snowballing" when describing a "vicious cycle" mechanism. That is to say that good jobs beget more good jobs, and so on.

Yea yea, it's like making a snowball. The trick is to make many of them, then get them wet, and then let them freeze over night, then you're not just throwing 'snow balls' but instead throwing big round chunks of frozen ice, guaranteed to do some damage.. LOL HAHAHAHAHAHA.
