The lengths we go to handling deceased remains are ridiculous. At least this guy did the sensible thing in getting cremated instead of something stupid like burial.

Are you saying that all those who opt for burial are stupid? If so, then I may be stupid, but I'm in pretty good company...

I agree the whole burial and casket thing can be stupid and expensive..
if there is ANYTHING to be said of the whole thing.. it's having a nice peaceful place for those left behind, to go visit your grave site. of course as soon as I say that.. that whole idea only holds so much I suppose.. as opposed to 'some other place' that was possibly a shared experience etc.. So never mind then.. ![]() ![]() TGIF.. nothin' left do but smile, smile, smile. |

Can't you do both? That is, be cremated and be buried? Or do urns only go into those drawer thingies? (mausoleums? tombs?)

I saw on TV news that detectives researched and found his only living relative is a daughter.... who happens to be in jail in South Louisiana.

Maybe the guy wanted his remains left in a car on his property. Why is this news? Some body aught to claim the ashes and just dump them out right there.

oddly enough, mrs. Morph has this in mind for the clan morpheus. A family crypt with a topside burial chamber. When it's time for a new addition, a lever is pulled which allows for the current remains to drop through to a common chamber. The new "resident" takes his place at the top waiting for his pull of the lever. That way, she says, all of our bones will be together. I don't even know if there is such an animal.

Man's remains turned over to Coroner
Man's remains turned over to Coroner
The remains of Shreveporter Louis Moossy have been turned over to the Caddo Coroner's Office until they can be claimed by a family attorney, said Caddo Sheriff's Detective Michael Escude'. Moossy's cremains were received by the Caddo Sheriff's Office about two weeks ago from a man who found them in the trunk of car that was going to be sold for scrap. The car previously belonged to Moossy. Escude' began a search for Moossy's next of kin and found a daughter who was incarcerated in Baton Rouge, but she provided no additional details on next of kin. The investigation then led to a brother of Moossy's in West Virginia. Escude' said that the brother has since contacted a Dallas attorney, who is making arrangements to claim Moossy's remains. After Moossy's story was publicized by local media this past week, the Sheriff's Office received several calls from people who remembered Moossy as a highly regarded Shreveport architect. Escude' said several people offered to help provide a proper resting place for Moossy. It was also learned that Moossy had a burial plot next to his deceased wife in St. Joseph's Cemetery.* |
