This whole situation is being manipulated and blown out of proportion by the media and Al and Jesse! Are we that surprised? I think not!

Huh? Stereotyping based on race or origin ain't right. No race has a monopoly on acting bad. Britney Spears proved that. So did Michael Jackson. It's just too bad that a few bad apples spoil the hole bushel. But they do. I can't stand Sharpton or Jackson, but that doesn't mean I hate all African Americans. Nor do I like all Hispanic or European Americans. People come in all shapes and sizes, and so do people who don't know how to act.

Why does KSLA list the skin color of the authors' quotes? Is their skin color an important thing to keep in mind as you read each quote? To keep things in context and perspective? To me that is stereotyping. A person's words are what is important, not the skin color of the person speaking those words.

I don't really get this whole Jena situation. It is a crime to beat someone up and assault them. The six boys were charged with a legitimate crime that they committed. What is the problem? We all know if a six white boys had beat up a black boy (roles reversed) that they'd be SCREAMING to bury the white boys under the jail!!

This has nothing to do with good enough but the fact was the law was transgressed and color has nothing to do with it. I see you think the cup is half empty.

>The six boys were charged with a legitimate crime that they committed.
A lot of people didn't agree with this because: 1. They were originally charged with attempted 2nd degree murder 2. Because of the murder charge their cases were moved from juvenile court to regular criminal court 3. The charges were reduced to aggravated battery, which requires a weapon be involved. The prosecutors claimed the boys' shoes were weapons 4. After the charges were reduced the boys were not moved back to the juvenile system even though aggravated battery isn't one of the crimes that allow juveniles to be prosecuted as adults 5. After the conviction was thrown out and the case ordered to juvenile court he remained in adult custody All of this is moot, anyway, as all six of them will end up in prison eventually. |
