Post Championship Fights at Shreveport’s Municipal Auditorium

Championship Fights at Shreveport’s Municipal Auditorium

Nationally Televised MMA Event: 7:30pm, December 7th, 2007

The word is out: Championship Fights are returning to Shreveport’s Historic Municipal Auditorium, thanks to Dana Pitcher Productions and the Cities of Shreveport and Bossier. The first, to be nationally televised, starts Friday night, December 7th, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. Then, alternating boxing and MMA events will be held February thru December of 2008.

The glare of the television lights will light up the Auditorium’s center ring that Friday night, to a very modern event. The spectacle of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), more commonly known as “Ultimate Fighting”.

Titled, “The Forces of Destruction”, the 14-bout card will be televised to millions of homes throughout the country on a combined cable network. Pitcher has previously produced multiple nationally-televised events over the past years, on Comcast, Cox, DirectTV, and ESPN, to name a few.

One of the top MMA & boxing promoters in the country, Dana Pitcher has connected with a one-two punch of the Hottest Sport in the World: “MMA” followed by “the sport of boxing”, now to make a resurgence in the South.

‘We’re here to help promote Shreveport-Bossier, the Ark-La-Tex…give the fans the Best Mixed Martial Arts and Boxing Shows possible,” said Pitcher, “…and, most of all, give the fighters their chance to be seen all over the world as they fight their way to the top.”

Executive Director of the Municipal Auditorium, Carl Hasten, said it best: “This is a chance for the Municipal to become Vegas in the world of MMA and Boxing,” concluding, “We’ll get major national publicity being associated with Dana Pitcher Productions.”

A former Commissioner of the Louisiana State Boxing and Wrestling Commission, Alvin Topham, now an ISKA representative, endorses the professional class of events Pitcher produces.

Mixed Martial Arts, better known as “MMA” fuses techniques from around the world, which have been developed throughout the history of fighting competition, to spawn a sport that is truly cutting edge, and without a doubt, the most exciting athletic experience you will ever see.

Power House Fighting Champions “Forces of Destruction” promises to be an evening which is long remembered. The night’s schedule is bursting with talent, including fighters such as Darrell Wood, Kelly Randle, Kalvin “Hot Boy” Hackney and Joe Christopher, to name a few.
0Local up and coming MMA fighters will also be on the card: Shreveport native Blake “Trouble” Franklin. An explosive newcomer to MMA, Franklin demonstrates supreme talent, being trained by Shreveport’s own World Champion Kick-Boxer, Charleton Young.

Fans of Bossier’s Christian Fulgriam, a former State Wrestling Champion, and Benton High graduate, are expected for his homecoming bout. Fulgiam, whose big brother was his inspiration, now resides in Lafayette, La.

According to Dana Pitcher, MMA now has its sights set on Shreveport, Louisiana. The Municipal Auditorium is the perfect location to host this electrifying event. The venue’s location provides excellent access to three states and more than a few nearby major cities. Since its construction nearly eighty years ago, the Municipal has had a long and legendary history, 10 years ago, world-renowned boxing promoter Don King held a historic match featuring World Champions Frankie Liles and Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins.

The home of Elvis and The Louisiana Hayride, the spirit of the Municipal Auditorium is one of spectacle, tradition, and excellence. Now this historic venue has great potential to become like the famed Blue Horizon in Philadelphia, where great boxing events from around the world are fought. The Auditorium’s 3,000 seat capacity provides the perfect setting, allowing the exhilarating atmosphere of a large crowd event while still providing every spectator a “best seat in the house” experience.

Those in attendance can expect to be thrilled by the professional level of the event’s production. Due to the sport’s explosive popularity, many MMA events are thrown together by inexperienced or unknowledgeable promoters. These events often include under trained fighters. Even if well trained fighters are featured, the low quality of production lacks the professional environment necessary for them to demonstrate their talent.

Don’t miss one of the best events in Louisiana ever. Power House Fighting Champions “Forces of Destruction”. Whether you have been a fan of MMA for some time, or still have yet to experience it at all, Dana Pitcher Productions event is sure to bring out the gladiator in you.

Tickets prices are VIP-Table $1,000.00 (Seats 10), Gold Circle $35.00 and General Admission $25.00

Tickets available at: Balian Communications – AT&T, Topps Western Wear in Bossier City, Pierre Bossier Mall, Municipal Auditorium and on line at www.powerhousefc.com
