Interesting that these have edge lettering - "Inscribed along the edge of the coin is the year of minting or issuance of the coin, and also the legends E Pluribus Unum and In God We Trust."
Also "The edge lettering does not occur at the same time as the minting of the coins, allowing for the natural occurrence of the lettering in either orientation" Cool on that. Edit: I just recalled that the ticket machine for our Light Rail system spits out Dollar Coins as change instead of bills.
