Yes, Long Distance carriers are phone companies, not trucking companies. I know nothing about the trucking industry.

I was wondering how someone could have not heard of AT&T.

Those aren't companies:

I've never heard of "ILCES," I assume that's a typo for ILECs

Thanks Joe for the clarifications. I should know better than to drop "industry jargon" onto a non-industry board. It's just that Cingular and "Bell" really get under my skin, and I should learn not to rant about it. Here is a good site though, for anyone interested in Bell bashing...
