You can bid on an autographed LSU Jersey, or Football, from
LSU’s #18, Jacob Hester, at this Saturday night’s NW Louisiana Special Olympics Trivia Night and Silent Auction…or, if you’re a fan of Cowboys’ NFL greats Tony Dorsett & Mel Renfro, you can bid on a personally autographed football, being donated by
Hall of Fame Mortgage. All the Items are considered “Priceless”.

The El Dorado Resort and Casino will be the setting for Special Olympics’ 7th annual fundraiser, Trivia Night & Silent Auction, this Saturday night November 17th, 2007, starts at 6 o’clock,
with hors d-oeuvres and the Silent Auction.

The Trivia Challenge contest will be emceed by Nahaje Hall, morning anchor of KSLA Channel 12, & SBLive’s
Tom Pace, Executive Editor of Shreveport.com & Bossier.com, now the home of Talk of the Town with Tom Pace.

Trivia competitors will form teams of 6 to answer ten questions from ten categories. Winners will be awarded prizes, including a cash prize for First Place. Tickets are $20 each, or $120 per team Dress is casual and the atmosphere will be festive.

Proceeds from the event will be used to support Northwest Area Special Olympics athletes in local, district & state competitions.

Special Olympics provides children and adults who have intellectual disabilities, the opportunity to gain acceptance, recognition, personal growth & dignity thru competition in sports.

Note:
Admission is free to the public to watch the Trivia Challenge, or bid on the Silent Auction items. The El Dorado staff will serve hors d-oeuvres and refreshments. Bidding on the Silent Auction will close, following the Trivia mid-break about 9 pm.

There's a sheet of paper next to the item with a listed starting price for bidding (and sometimes specifies bidding increments). So you write your name (or ID) and your bid. Someone comes along and ups you, etc. At a certain time the bidding stops and the paper picked up. The person with the highest bid wins the item and pays the cashier and takes home the item.

Sometimes, since it is for charity, the winning bid exceeds the value of the item. Been to a good number of these - they can be a lot of fun. Got a good price on a pearl necklace for the mrs j.nc at a silent auction.
