Judge sues dry cleaner for $65 million

http://www.canada.com/topics/news/od...cc4d7f&k=23116

Quote:
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Chungs, immigrants from South Korea, realized their American dream when they opened their dry-cleaning business seven years ago in the nation's capital. For the past two years, however, they've been dealing with the nightmare of litigation: a $65 million lawsuit over a pair of missing pants.

I guess the judge ain't paid enough. I just wonder what those pants are made of.

He must not a very good judge. I can't imagine how those pants could possibly be worth even close to that amount. He is just trying to rip people off.

That's INSANE....

Quote:
According to court documents, the problem began in May 2005 when Pearson became a judge and brought several suits for alteration to Custom Cleaners in Northeast Washington, a place he patronized regularly despite previous disagreements with the Chungs. A pair of pants from one suit was not ready when he requested it two days later, and was deemed to be missing.

Pearson asked the cleaners for the full price of the suit: more than $1,000.

But a week later, the Chungs said the pants had been found and refused to pay. That's when Pearson decided to sue.

Manning said the cleaners made three settlement offers to Pearson. First they offered $3,000, then $4,600, then $12,000. But Pearson wasn't satisfied and expanded his calculations beyond one pair of pants.

Because Pearson no longer wanted to use his neighborhood dry cleaner, part of his lawsuit calls for $15,000 - the price to rent a car every weekend for 10 years to go to another business.

"He's somehow purporting that he has a constitutional right to a dry cleaner within four blocks of his apartment," Manning said.

Clear cut case of Roy Moore syndrome. The man has let his position go to his head and has gone from interpreting the law to thinking he IS the law.

I've had too much coffee, I guess But it really is twisted thinking. People need to just "get busy living or get busy dying..."

I got it, the judge needed a trip to Vegas and was short on spending money.

Update: Law Judge Loses $54 Million Pants Lawsuit

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19414504/

Quote:
According to the judges decision, the plaintiff, Administrative Law Judge Roy Pearson Jr. will take nothing from Soo Chung and Jim Nam Chung, the owners of Custom Cleaners.
The judge also awarded the Chungs' court costs.
Good for the Chung's. That Judge was ridiculuis.

Way to go judge! The Chungs even found the man's pants and he preceded to sue anyway! The article said the man was representing himself and got choked up and had to leave the courtroom! How ridiculous over what? The fact that he made an utter fool of himself? DUH!

A District of Columbia administrative law judge who lost a $54 million lawsuit against a dry cleaner over a missing pair of pants is continuing to press his suit. Roy Pearson filed an appeal after a judge rejected his original lawsuit in June. (Aug. 14)

Imagine not giving a hoot if the whole country thinks you are being a jerk. Now imagine being on the government payroll so you have no customers who can leave you, because you are being a jerk. Now imagine being a judge in Washington DC with a obsessive pants compulsion. What do you have? I'm a taxpayer so let me guess.. Yet another $500 hammer, only this one is called a gavel?

Get to work prosecuting rapists, murderers, and terrorists you freak! And leave the poor dry cleaners alone. I can only imagine how you might handle or pass judgement on a "frivilous lawsuit"...
