Hunter safety classes offered
The Caddo Parish sheriff’s office, together with Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, is hosting four hunter safety education courses for individuals interested in getting hunting licenses.
Classes are scheduled for Sept. 11-13, Sept. 25-27, Oct. 9-11, and Oct. 16-18, according to a news release. September classes will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church on Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. The shooting portion of the class will be at the Shreveport Gun Club, 4435 Meriwether Road, according to the release. The entirety of the October classes will be held at the Shreveport Gun Club. Classroom instruction also will be held at 6 p.m. Students must attend all three days in the session to become certified. Children under 10 years old cannot be lifetime certified, but can attend the class and receive a certificate good for the 2007-2008 season. The course is free, but pre-registration is required. Call Cpl. Stuart Talbot at (318) 676-3717 to register.

The classes listed above are from 2007 and do not represent the schedule for 2008. I'm not teaching any classes for 2008. Information for Hunter Education can be located by going to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Website. See below.
