Peanut Butter Needs To Be Checked
A salmonella outbreak that has slowly grown to nearly 300 cases in 39 states since August has been linked to tainted peanut butter, federal health officials said Wednesday.

We actually had two jars if Jiffy with "2111" on the lid. We tossed them out but also my kids have had stomach problems lately.. I wonder if..... naw, couldn't be, could it?

rhertz, it is Peter Pan and Great Value that is bad. Jiffy is fine. I sure am glad I buy Jiffy.

I check my peanut butter each night about 8:00
One nice spoon full of Albertson's brand crunchy peanut butter on a spoon. Better than any other

Yup, usually by the Jiffy here as well.. but we did find a freakin' almost empty jar of the questionable Peter Pan in the cabinet. Not even sure how long it's been there but we promptly through it away.

Intestinal bacteria? Uh, I'm not going to eat any PB&J's any time soon, I'll tell you that. How does a cooked (or roasted) product in a jar go bad like that? And it's not like the process of making peanut butter is a new one. I would think that they would have that down pat by now.
