LSU downs Ohio State 38-24 for BCS Title
Matt Flynn voted Offensive MVP Les Miles joins Nick Saban, & Paul Dietzel, for LSU’s 3rd National Championship By Tom Pace, Executive Editor, SBLive! January 7th, 2008 10:51 pm, Monday, January 7th, 2008. LSU downs Ohio State 38-24, and becomes the first team to become repeat champions in the BCS era, all-the-while, becoming the first-ever, two-loss team to compete in the BCS era. 54 year-old head coach, Les Miles stayed at LSU, and now claims the right to his own national championship team. Nothing’s worse than a wounded Tiger. Ohio State slapped LSU square in the face on the Buckeyes’ opening drive. The Tigers looked stunned, as the scoreboard showed: Ohio State 7-LSU 0, with 13 minutes left in the first quarter. Tigers’ first possession stalls, Buckeyes get a head a steam, but no TD, Ohio State kicks a field goal, and suddenly, it’s OSU 10- LSU 0. Seems like time for a LSU wake-up call. Apparently, Les Miles and company got the message. A blocked field goal by Highsmith gives the Tigers renewed strength. Colt David kicks a field goal, and LSU puts 3 on the board. End of first quarter: Ohio State 10- LSU 3. The second quarter starts, and Matt Flynn’s passes heated up the air, and Jacob Hester’s running scorched the field. Not to forget the rest of the Tigers who got into the action. Suddenly, it’s halftime, and it’s LSU 24- OSU 10. It’s tit-for-tat in the third quarter, as the Tigers and Buckeyes exchange touchdowns. LSU 31-Ohio State 17 starting the fourth quarter. 5:43 remaining in the game, and LSU intercepts the Buckeyes. Then, two minutes remain, LSU scores again, and it’s 38-17 for the Bayou Bengals. A 79,361 Superdome crowd of mainly Tiger fans, erupts in cheers, as they sense the national championship is imminent. 1:13 to go in the game, Ohio State scores…and, it’s 38-24, LSU over OSU. Finally, LSU recovers the Buckeyes’ on-sides kick. The clock runs out, and LSU is #1. Ohio State is now 0-9 against the SEC. Geaux Tigers!! |
