November 28, 2007 Will Barksdale Air Force Base be the permanent home of the Air Force Cyber Command Headquarters? That decision should be made and announced by the end of February 2008, according Maj. Gen. William Lord, the Provisional Cyber Commander currently housed at the 8th Air Force, BAFB. In a one-on-one interview with Tom Pace, SBLive! Executive Editor, General Lord explained the timeline process for site selection. (Listen to Tom’s podcast interview) “Currently, 20 Congressional Districts are looking to land the Cyber Command Headquarters,” said Lord. He continued, “I’ve already visited seven of them.” That list of 20, will be pared down to two, and then a site selection committee will visit each facility, with the final decision on where the Cyber Command Headquarters will be located, to be announced by the end of February, 2008, General Lord told Pace.
