Yeah they have really good Muffalettas down there. But I don't go there much anymore after they closed for lunch years back.

if anyone hears of any updates on this story, I'd sure like to hear about it.
That's one crazy story to say the least.. I keep wondering if there's something else to it ?

Turns out Colby (the owner of the club) was intoxicated, and when a customer stepped on a glass, Colby put a gun up to the customer's head, slightly tilted the barrel of the gun upward and discharged a round into the ceiling. If Colby had the right to own a gun, he's probably forfeited that right forever. He'll be lucky if he comes thru this without losing his business. Damn foolish thing to do!

I sure would not like to be in there if he is having a bad night. People have highs and lows and this could be just a bad day for Colby. I know if I had been in the building with my wife she would have freaked and so would I when
that gun went off. Makes ya think about coming back. It was a damn foolish thing to do but maybe so is owning a bar in down town Shreveport.

Like you say, people have bad days, highs and lows.. I keep asking myself what else is there to this story? I won't try and speculate, don't want to start any rumors.. just bothers me.. maybe cause I've been to the noble savage on many an occasion.. if it happened somewhere else, I probably wouldn't think twice about it. Couldn't find any updates on the story in the news today.

I think its just good business to take a pot shot at a customer every now and then. Just like the good ole days when Al was a young boy.

I know some people might disagree, but now folks who go in there will be sure to have plenty of cash complete with a good tip! I would not risk the chance of a credit card decline or failure. No wooden nickels. No washing dishes.

As for complaining to the chef, that problem is virtually eliminated! Every meal is the best you've ever had! (if you know what's good for you) Nobody spits chewing tobacco on the floor anymore - they use the spittoons like they have some manners.

Patrons are now much more quiet and well behaved. Less cussing and swearing. They even wipe their feet at the door. The bathroom is twice as clean and some customers even volunteer to clean it!

Yep maybe Colby was just born in the wrong time.....

Interesting!

It just so happens that the real Al Swearengen, history's notorious proprietor of the Gem Saloon back in the days of Wild Bill Hickock, would most likely have behaved in the same fashion as his modern day counterpart Colby, with the possible exception that Al would'nt have bothered tipping up the barrel.

LMAO. I have never seen a whole episode of 'Dead Wood' before. I tried once. But they used the "F-word" once ever 60 seconds. I have kids in the house. I can only use the pause button so often without loosing the "effect".

In any case, I take a like'in to old Al. One of my favorite old movies is "Bite the Bullet" starring James Cogburn and Gene Hackman. I also like "true grit" and "rooster cogburn". I like Catherine Hepburn as well.
