Yes I know right where you are talking about. I used to play tennis with his wife! She could NOT move out of this town quick enough. She'd had it with all the senseless crime in a supposedly "safe" part of town.

Thats the good thing about my neighborhood in south bossier, the "element" is not here!

I would have to agree. Many years ago, my uncle was shot in a rural town of about 200 in central Louisiana. Nothing ever happened in that little town until someone broke into his home that day. That day, 0.5% of the population of the town was murdered. That is like 1500 people being murdered in Shreveport-Bossier area (statistically speaking). I don't think rural areas always improve the overall statistics of a large region. My .02....

People think laws will deter this type of thing. Or maybe they think passing laws will make everyone feel better.

Laws aren't worth a damn if the people they are designed for don't care anyway. Murder is against the law, does that stop people. Making it a hate cirme if it's racial, has that done anything, hell no. It's time for folks to realize parenting is the problem, or lack there of. Breeders are the root of most of the violent crime. If someone is brought up with love and discipline and parents who care this is a non issue. Granted there is still some domestic or crazy problem, but if you are brought up to respect folks and taught right from wrong, we would be in a whole different palce.

All of this is very true, because laws are generally established as a reactive approach to crime. <If you do this, THEN this will be your penalty> With that being said, the issue then goes back to underdeveloped neighborhoods and schooling.... The other problem is that within these transitional neighborhoods you have "the blind leading the blind"...These neighborhoods breed crime....Adding paint to a home will improve conditions temporarily, but having a favorable engineer report will establish a solid foundation...

I remember when Steve Potter got killed, I was in high school and he was working on a case with my father. A friend of mine lived in Southern Trace and drove the same make/color car that those kids had stolen after the murder. As my friend drove through the guardhouse into his neighborhood he got swarmed by cops with their guns out.
