I guess I'll give it up then. That quote was from the John Wayne movie Hatari and was said by the character known by his nickname, Pockets. This movie was an anomoly in John Wayne's filmography because it was neither a military flick nor a western. In this movie, John Wayne was the head of a group of hunters in Africa who caught animals for zoos.

Pockets had devised a way to catch hundreds of monkeys in a single day by having a local tribe chase them into a single large tree. They would then fire a rocket carrying a large net over the tree, thus trapping the monkeys. They would then cut the tree down and entered the net to catch hundreds of monkeys by hand. When John Wayne's character arrives on scene, he sees the rocket is set up and pointed away from the tree rather than toward it and asks Pockets why. Pockets replies, "I read book! Vectors, trajectors, centrifugal forces, and stuff like that. Do you know what those things are?" True to his word, the rocket does indeed work perfectly and the team catch over 500 monkeys in the process.
