How to forgive

I've heard people in my life say to me that they can't forgive. A mother who was verbally abused, physically abused and emotionally abused. Not just from her husband but also her father. I saw the pain in her eyes and heard the hate in her voice. She didn't know that I've experienced pain like hers because she was so lost in her bitterness, she won't listen as long as she decides to hang on to her pain. I believe that forgiveness brings restoration. Maybe not of the relationship that brought pain, but to your own life.
I choose to forgive because it allows me to love.
Besides, half the time the person who wronged you goes on with life like nothing happened....so your the one left with all the hurt.
