Girl could give birth to her sister
A seven-year-old girl could one day give birth to her biological half-brother or half-sister after her mother became the first woman to donate eggs to her infertile daughter.

I'm all for mothers taking care of their children in everyway possible but I don't feel like this is right. Physically wouldn't the child most likely have some mental retardation or other vast health problems, the same as we see in children of incest? The mom has a good heart but I don't think this is healthy in the long run!

I would "assume" that the frozen egg would not have the same father so I do not think there would be any health problems but ethics "could" come into play. It is a very strange twist.

Well that certainly is true...it's hard to comprehend this kind of a situation and the ramifications.

There are people who are willing to donate their eggs, unused embryos, etc. I think when the girl is 7 y/o it should not be an issue at this point. The young child has a whole life ahead of her that needs to be focused on, not her becoming a mother. The mother was jumping the gun a bit. However, as with many things the problems will be as big as folks make it.

No, the girl wasn't having a baby with her mother (for obvious reason) she's just housing her mother's eggs. |

I am with you on this one Joe. It's not an issue unless it's made to be one. Using her mother's eggs or a total strangers ....what's the difference? None. It just sounds a little strange to most folks, but it really is harmless. I just don't think it is the thing to focus on at this point in the child's life.

Well it is obvious I misunderstood what the article stated the first time. OOPS!
![]() But I still feel there would be complications related to ethics one day down the road!

It may not be the thing to focus on now, but the article stated that if she hadn't frozen her eggs now, her eggs would not be of high quality later. It makes sense to do it now. If her daughter chooses not to use them later, for whatever reason, she now has that choice.
As far as health complications, there wouldn't be any. It takes 2 chromosomes to begin embryonic development in the womb. One is given by the mother's egg and the other by the father's sperm. In this case, the girl would not be donating any chromosome at all. Biologically speaking, the embryonic development would be the same as if the mother had the baby with her daughter's partner, a man I assume would have no biological connections to her.

What if her daddy left some tadpoles frozen then she could give birth to her full sister
