PORT MORESBY (AFP) - Some AIDS victims are being buried alive in Papua New Guinea by relatives who cannot look after them and fear becoming infected themselves, a health worker said Monday.

This is about the ghastliest thing I've read in a while! All it would take is some educating these poor people about AIDS and how it is spread. Then surely these live burials would cease! Also AIDS has gotten to be more manageable now and it's not the death sentence it once was. If somehow the proper meds could be gotten to these poor sick folks...I wish I had the answers!

Terrible! I'm all for wiping out the existance of a disease by stopping its spread entirely, but not if it includes killing people who already have it, most especially by live burial.
Even if they did do this out of fear, why such an inhumane mode of death anyway?
